Dear Kingsgaters,
As we enter into this week of fasting it is important that we know that we do so before a God who loves us with an unshakeable and everlasting love. We do not fast to earn his favour, appease his anger or impress him with our piety but rather we use fasting to draw close to the One who delights in our company! So as we begin our fast, take time to reflect on this: that the Eternal and Infinite Creator of Heaven and Earth loves us! Reflect on the wonder of who he is, who we are because of him and the precious place that the church holds in his affections. This week we may have a number of things that we are asking God – prayers and questions we are bringing before him. This is good, however let’s do it from a place of confidence for the one we come to understands us and loves us!
Suggestion for the week:
- Get a writing pad and journal over these next four days. You may want to write down your prayers (something that I find very useful) and you can also write down anything you feel God might be saying to you personally, for another or for the church. Don’t dismiss something as stupid or foolish! Write it down and let God surprise you.
