In April 2016 we announced that we would begin exploring building a KingsGate community in Cobham and a prayer walking initiative. I would like to update you with what we have been doing, where we have got to, and what comes next.

Phase 1: As a core group we spent many great Thursday evenings prayer walking in Cobham between April and September 2016. We have prayed for Churches and their leadership and communities, businesses, schools, homes for the elderly, community gathering spaces (halls, sportsfields, supermarkets, etc) and for people living in the homes we have walked past. This has been a rich time of assimilating the culture, meeting people on the walks and building connections with other churches in the area.

Phase 2 : From October to December 2016 we started a connect group type gathering at the Henderson’s on a Thursday night running the Adopted Course (created by Paul Harper) which builds understanding and faith on our identity in Christ. This was a rich time and we have been joined by some folk who live in Cobham and strengthened our relationships with some of the church leaders.

We took a break over Christmas and New Year and are about to start a new chapter in March this year. The Thursday night gathering has been great for the small team, and we will continue to meet on a Thursday evening, but many people who have indicated they would like to join us have not been able to make it on a Thursday night. As result we will move to a ‘Connect Group’ type meeting on Sundays kicking off on 5th March. Following meetings will be on the first and third Sunday of the month in Cobham at the Cobham Village Hall starting at 9.30am.

We are very encouraged by what God is doing in Cobham and we are continuing to build a community in Cobham but want to hear God and take each step in line with what we believe He is saying. Please continue to pray for us as we start the twice a month Sunday connect group – that we will gather local people and see the kingdom come in Cobham.
