Welcome to ham
We are a worshipping community in the heart of Ham passionately committed to pursuing and living out an authentic faith in Jesus. We are convinced that he is good and invites us to live our lives in ever deepening relationship with him and with each other.
To that end, we meet together on Sundays to worship, pray and be strengthened through the scriptures. It is our desire to represent Jesus well to our local communities. Part of doing this is to serve well wherever we can. We are on a journey to explore the fullness of life with him. We warmly invite you to join the journey with us.
What to expect
We are delighted to be meeting in person again after many months on Zoom.
Our Sunday meetings are very informal and consist of worship: most often facilitated with a musical instrument and singer, or a refelctive exercise from the Psalms. This is followed by a teaching from the scriptures, some discussion, prayer and communion.
We are currently not running the children’s ministry. However, children of all ages are very much part of the church community, so we encourage their participation and contribution.
If you would like to join us, you will need to register, here.
- bread and juice / wine for communion.
- a flask of tea or coffee to enjoy
- a mask (plastic visors are also availble)
- Something to engage your young childen

Prayer has been called the ‘engine room’ of any church. Prayer is a recognition of the value of relationship with God and a statement of our dependency on him.
We encourage a life-style of prayer for every follower of Jesus. We are slowly learning the prayer practices of the wider church as we seek to grow in communion with God.
During the restrictions of Covid-19 we are meeting outdoors for sunrise prayer walks. Check the calendar to find out about the next one.
We are learning how to live lives of wholehearted devotion to Jesus.
An important expression of this is our shared worship during Sunday meetings. This is the most natural and appropriate response to who God is and what he has done. In worship, God’s Spirit is poured out, we are transformed, healing takes place, God reveals himself, the church is commissioned, and spiritual atmosphere is impacted.
Whist this is normally facilitated by one or more musicians, we place a high value on whole congregation worship where each person can participate and many can contribute, with prayers, thanks-giving, scripture readings, and the exercise of their spiritual gifts used for the good of all present.
One of the best investments we can make is in our children. Childrelikeness is hightly valued by Jesus, so we beleive that children are an important part of any church community.
We have an excellent, weekly, volunteer run children's ministry with three classes to cover the age groups. The environment is fun, loving, and centered on knowing God and learning how to walk with him evrery day.
We have a fantastic group of young people exploring how faith in Jesus is worked out in the world around them. Sundays is a teaching and discusion time. On Fridays, we join with youth from the other KingsGate congregations for a mix of social time and topic based discussion.
One of our young people descibe it like this:
“On a Friday we usually get together around 7:30, and start off by just saying hi to each other and catching up. Then sometimes we get together to chat as a group or play a game of some sort. There's always music playing and snacks, most of the time :), so it makes for a nice atmosphere just to hang out with friends at the start of the Weekend. I enjoy youth because I get to see and hang out with people I wouldn't usually see much otherwise and it's honestly just a nice way to end the week.”
We are better together than alone. Being a community is big part of who we are. We are learning how to share our lives and live honestly and vulnerably together.
We current have a weekly Connect Group and a ladies group every second week.
You can also join our free fitness class every Saturday morning.
The good news of Jesus does not only produce a private and personal faith, but a compulsion to love and serve the wider world together. Every community has challenges where it is not hard to see that things are not as they should be.
We try to play our part in the strengthening of our local community, supporting people and initiatives that aim to help the marginalised and vulnerable.
Serving one another is a high value for us. There are opportunities to get involved in the Sunday gathering, mid-week connect group, monthly prayer & fasting, various events and outreaches, and the general life of the church community.
Please let us know if you would like to get involved.
