One of the understandings of the word ‘Selah’ is to ‘Stop and reflect’.

In our modern, Western society, it’s easy for life to feel like a relentless treadmill. Life seems to be very fast paced. Days weeks, months and years seem to flash and it can become very difficult to stop and reflect on some big important truths. Every August, we like to have a more restful month, with less in the diary as a church. This year, we’re building on the idea of rest – as a church we want to ‘Stop and reflect’.
We as the KingsGate Kingston congregations are going to be submerging ourselves in Psalm 46 – a Psalm which so richly describes the power and fortified strength of our loving God in whom we can trust with our whole lives. There has been much ‘shaking’ in the world over the last number of months and so this Psalm speaks a timely message of God as our refuge, strength and fortress.
