Parenting Course
At KingsGate we believe that the family is one of the key foundation stones of a healthy society. When families function well and children are loved, secure and safe the whole community benefits. We believe this Parenting Course will be relevant and helpful for anyone with children up to the age of 12.
The Family Time Parenting Children Course seeks to equip and envision you, not just for your family but for life. We are passionate about equipping Parents to move from mere survival to leading and enjoying their families, while embracing the adventures that take place along the way…
We, along with many other Churches, have joined together under the banner of the National Parenting Initiative http://www.thenpi.org.uk. We run The Family Time Parenting Course, which was developed from a book written by Mark and Lindsay Melluish (New Wine) who have 5 of their own children, and are passionate about family life. It is a well-recognized course that is being run in Churches and Schools across the UK and abroad.
Single parents are very welcome on the Parenting Course, and have found it beneficial in the past, but where both parents are present in the family we would ask that, where possible, both parents attend as parenting is a team effort.
While the Parenting Course is based on Christian principals it is helpful for anyone with or without a Christian faith or church background.
The topics covered are:
Week 1: A vision for your family
Week 2: Communicating love
Week 3: Who is influencing my children?
Week 4: Family values
Week 5: Guiding, shaping and boundaries
Week 6: Modelling love and respect
The next Parenting Course launches on Wed 6th June 2012.
Course format:
Each evening begins at 7:45pm with a talk which will be followed by refreshments and then discussion groups.
The evening closes at 10:00pm.
Over six evenings parents are given some helpful parenting tools and tips and get the opportunity to learn from other parents going through similar experiences.
Course fee: £10 per person (includes manual and refreshments)
